Meet the Founders of MediBit
At MediBit, we work on artificial intelligence and machine learning for clinical software. Our team combines technical training, medical experience, and direct exposure to healthcare projects.
Our Story
Our journey began at the Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies in Bratislava, where we first crossed paths during our undergraduate studies. What started as shared lectures and collaborative coursework quickly evolved into something more.
Together, we dove into practical challenges by participating in medical and AI-focused hackathons, including the IKEM Hackathon in Prague and Rakathon, and attended specialized programs like KInIT's NLP Summer School and the Winter School on AI in Digital Pathology held in Brno and Graz. These experiences showed us where software can support the intersection of medicine and machine learning.
And so, MediBit was born as a company where we could merge our backgrounds and build tools that clinicians can review and trust.
Patrik Kozlík – Chief AI Officer
Patrik has been focused on the application of AI in medical imaging and computer vision from the very beginning of his academic journey. After starting with general studies, he went on to complete his undergraduate degree at FIIT STU in Bratislava, where his final thesis on AI in medicine was awarded the Dean’s Prize for Best Final Thesis.
With strong experience in backend and data-driven development, cloud infrastructure, and scalable deployment, Patrik leads MediBit’s AI initiatives. His technical depth and research-first mindset are crucial to ensuring that our algorithms remain state-of-the-art, reliable, and clinically relevant.
Peter Hubina – Co-CEO
Peter’s passion for programming began in high school and carried through to his university studies in informatics. He brings extensive experience in full-stack web development and has also contributed to projects involving weak segmentation techniques, a key area in medical image analysis.
At MediBit, Peter serves as Co-CEO and is the engine behind the company’s core processes. Whether it's product design, system architecture, or team operations, Peter ensures that everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
Martin Sivák – Co-CEO
Martin has long been fascinated by both biology and technology. During high school, he worked with the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) on the genetic chemoresistance of testicular cancer. His seminar work on this topic earned him a spot in the Biology Olympiad, where he won the Bratislava round and placed in the top 7 nationally.
Eventually, he chose to fully embrace the world of technology while keeping his roots in biomedical research. He graduated magna cum laude with a thesis on the application of AI and computer vision in weak semantic segmentation in pathology. As Co-CEO of MediBit, Martin helps drive the bridge between research and product, ensuring that what we build is not only functional, but impactful in real clinical environments.
Together, we are MediBit, building medical software with clinical review in mind.
